This low resolution model shows just one small sample of the Maine shoreline (northern shore of Jellison Cove in Hancock, Maine) in the aftermath of the pummeling by two back-to-back severe and historically significant storms in January 2024. The widespread devestation and destructive impact all along the Maine coastline, its communities, and its people may never be fully assessed.
The well illustrated American Lighthouse Foundation’s article, “Acting in the Wake of Storm Damage to Maine Lighthouses” sheds a broader light on nature’s mid-January fury along Maine’s coastline from an interesting perspective; particularly when considering all of the storms they’ve endured and the breadth of time that these lighthouses have stood.
